Summer Greece Trip

Updated: Jun 11, 2019

Hello Sunshines!

Last summer, my fiancé and I took a trip to Greece with our friends Matias and Johanna. I've been dreaming of Greece ever since I can remember. Instead of a Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday gift, I asked Anton for us to take a trip to Greece. We both enjoy traveling so much we would rather spend money on travel! So about six months ahead, our sweet friend Johanna who works for a travel agency in Sweden helped book our trip! We planned to stay at Knossos Beach Resort located in Heraklion (Crete), Greece.

When I'm telling you this place was like a dream …..I literally teared up when we arrived to this resort. We were greeted by the owners' dogs so immediately I knew we were in good company. I could not believe I was actually there. Knossos Beach Resort not only had the friendliest staff, but delicious food, comfortable beach and pool beds, a variety of suites, and the most beautiful flowers all over! If you're heading to Greece, PLEASE check this resort out!

This resort has a full breakfast that is included, which I looked forward to EVERY MORNING because of the views and delicious homemade donuts. They have several other restaurants located in the resort so we ate lunch and dinner here as well! Our location was wonderful as well because we could walk out of the resort to several other restaurants with authentic Greek food. The locals were very welcoming and excited to share their culture with us!

We rented a car for a few days so we could explore the island. Crete is the biggest island in Greece with the most beautiful beaches! One day we drove to Seitan Limani, which is the most exotic beach I've ever seen! On the way, we stopped at a beautiful cafe for lunch. Yummy gyros was the move! It was a little crazy to get to the beach.....but worth it! You have to basically rock climb down to the beach. Once you climb down the cliff, you see the crystal blue water with pebble sand AND goats climbing and roaming around. After we spent time at the beach, we went into the city of Chania. So many beautiful houses, cafes, and little corners. We ate dinner and watched the World Cup championship. It was so amazing being surrounded by people from all over the world.

The following day we chose to explore Elafonisi Beach! This beach is pretty huge. You take a winding, tiny road all the way down to the beach, but once you get to the beach, it's flat so no rock climbing for this beach LOL This beach is famous for it's pink tinted sand! They have umbrellas and chairs available for rent and several snack bars. Absolutely stunning beach! We again stopped to eat, and I had the most amazing spaghetti and chocolate cake. I truly was in a food coma this entire trip.

After spending a few days in Greece, Anton told me to pack up my carry on suitcase for a surprise trip for two days. I love surprises, especially surprises in GREECE. The next morning we ate breakfast and a taxi picked us up. We are dropped off at the port and board a ferry boat. Next stop...SANTORINI. I think I cried a little when I saw the white village cliffs. We hop off the ferry and take another taxi to our hotel. Anton kept telling me "Don't get your hopes up. Santorini is the most expensive island of Greece and our hotel isn't as nice." I told him "I don't care. I'll sleep on the street." Well....Anton was lying BIG time. We arrive to our hotel and my mouth drops. We are greeted with drinks as our bags are taken to our suite. They give us a breakfast menu to choose for the following morning. Breakfast was included so let's just say I circled EVERYTHING.

We walk down to our suite and I'm blown away. Absolute Bliss Imerovigli Suites is the most breathtaking hotel I've every seen! Private balcony and hot tub, private pool for the hotel, room service that will make or buy you ANYTHING and bring to your room at ANY hour, yummy breakfast delivered at your desired time, and the view.....

We spent the next 24 hours exploring every inch of Santorini we could....I also got engaged here but I think I'll save that for a separate blog :) We relaxed at our private pool, stayed up late drinking champagne and eating pizza while in the hot tub, shopped local stores, ate dinner on the cliff side, etc. If you ever get a chance to go to Santorini, DO IT. You will not regret this decision. Pictures can't even capture the beauty of this place.

We took another ferry boat back to Heraklion, Crete and we spent the rest of our trip there! This trip crushed every expectation I had, and I wish I could go back every day.

Fun Facts:

Check out my YouTube Channel for a video of the entire trip.

I got a little sick on the trip (sinus infection), but I refused to stay in bed a minute because of it.

My favorite meal was chicken souvlaki.

If you go to my Instagram @brittbledsoe, you can find outfit links from my trip!

At the end of every meal, Greeks serve raki (alcohol) and watermelon to help with digestion.

A Swedish World Cup player was staying at our resort so Anton was able to talk with him. Very humble, down to earth guy! Pro Hockey and Pro Soccer players of Sweden!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot me a DM!

XOXO, Britt
