How to Bike the Atlanta Beltline

Updated: Jun 11, 2019

Hello Sunshines!

One of the best ways to spend a beautiful day in Atlanta is exploring the city through the Beltline. The Atlanta Beltline is a paved trail throughout the city. The Beltline has several different trails: Northside Trail, Westside Trail, Southside Trail, and a Eastside Trail. The most popular, which we took for the day, is the Eastside Trail. This trail runs from Krog Street Market to Piedmont Park. We grabbed a bite to eat at Inman Park, which has tons of food options (My faves : Bread & Butterfly and Bartaco). We walked a short five minutes to the Beltline to grab a bicycle.

You can choose to bike, walk, scoot, roller blade, etc along the trail! No cars are allowed on the trail. There are several different apps to rent a bicycle or scooter. We downloaded the Social Bicycles App. You are able to search for bicycles, create an account, track your trip, pay for your rental, etc on this app. For scooters, there are several apps as well!

Once you find a means of transportation, it's time to ride. You can stop along the way to grab a bite to eat, and you have plenty of options to choose from. From Ponce City Market to open aired and rooftop bars, you can take a break and enjoy the weather.

Other than grabbing a bite to eat or cold drink, the Beltline is known for it's unique street art! There are plenty of places to stop and get a cool picture! There are several Tiny Doors along the Eastside Trail as well! Make sure to stop and take as many pictures as you want. The Eastside Trail is about three miles until you hit Piedmont Park. Piedmont Park is a beautiful location to bike around, too!

Fun Facts and Tips

Ring your bell to let people know you are behind them

*If you hear a bike bell, this means move more to the right* (Americans still need to learn bike etiquette. My time in Europe has shown me how much cyclists have the right of way, and if you don't move when you hear that bell....you're getting yelled at and ran over!)

You can return your bike to a different bike rack

Scooters don't have a rack but can be left anywhere

Dogs are very welcomed!

There is a skate park and regular parks along the way

Wear comfortable shoes

Go give my girl Michale a follow on the gram (@mily_mk)

Have fun!!

XOXO, Britt
